Qatar Foundation's Sidra Medical and Research Center is a truly landmark development. It is the first academic medical center announced in the region based on the North American model.
Every element of the project reflects its world class nature - from its ultra modern, all digital, luxury facility, to its architectural design by renowned architect Cesar Pelli, to its affiliation with a leading US medical college for teaching, patient care and research. Sidra will not only be one of the most beautiful healing environments in the world but also an extremely efficient and functional one, due to the inclusion of cutting edge technology in all processes.
Sidra's mission is three-fold. It has been described by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, Chair of Qatar Foundation, as a groundbreaking institution that will "promote healing, inspire learning and advance scientific discovery."
Scheduled to open in November 2011, Sidra is expected to fast become an employer of choice and will work to create an environment that is professionally attractive to high quality staff. This includes training and professional development opportunities, the implementation of best practices, and management systems that motivate staff to deliver to their maximum potential. Optimum use will be made of sophisticated technology to ensure a patient-focused culture and that the ratio of staff to patients allows for the highest quality care.
